The ten rooms of the permanent exhibition introduce visitors to everyday life, politics, and society in East Germany. Various exhibits shed light on the topics of family and work, consumption, education and communication, government, socialist lifestyles, and opposition movements in the 1980s. The exhibition graphics are based on a clear system of individual colors and linear patterns for each of the ten rooms. They are echoed in the accompanying printed matter.
